Psychologist, Mediator, Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber


Kathleen GehlDr. Kathleen Gehl is a psychologist, mediator, and advanced practice nurse prescriber in private practice in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Dr. Gehl received her Psy.D (Doctorate in psychology) from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology with a focus on child psychology. As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Gehl has offered assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Currently her psychotherapy practice is limited to therapy for adults, couples, and families. Dr. Gehl is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.

Dr. Gehl is a trained divorce mediator with a special interest in facilitating constructive discussions with parents about their children’s needs during divorce and assisting them in crafting a post divorce parenting plan that is child focused, developmentally sensitive and appropriate, and recognizes the importance of both parents in children’s lives. Dr. Gehl is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Dr. Gehl is also a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin having served on its board and as a member of the training committee, training in Wisconsin and nationally. She has extensive experience as a divorce coach and child specialist.

Dr. Gehl has her Master of Science degree in psychiatric-mental health nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is certified as an advanced practice nurse with prescription privileges. In that capacity, Dr. Gehl can offer the option of medication intervention when appropriate to her adult clients. In addition, her nursing background enhances her work with clients struggling to manage health related issues.

Dr. Gehl accepts most health insurance plans. Clients are ultimately responsible for any expenses incurred if insurance does not pay and are encouraged to investigate outpatient mental health benefits before the first appointment.
